• Every year under CBCS, which was introduced in 2018, average seven students earn a first-class degree. They also get to study in M A. Courses at the University of Calcutta. At present there are 141 students considering all three semesters.
• The department takes regular evaluative exams, checks answer scripts as part of continuous evaluative system & also takes regular audio-visual classes.
• Besides, the department has a seminar library of its own besides the Central Library for the students, organises Parent-Teacher meet frequently and has a continuous evaluation system for the betterment of the students.
• The department organised an internal quiz contest among the departmental students in 2014 & 2015 and in 2024.
• Also, in sports, besides the departmental students participating in the annual sports of the college, Sunita Shaw from the department was selected for National Hockey in 2022.
Seminars and Webinars:
During the pandemic period the department conducted nine webinars either alone or jointly with the department of Political Science. In 2023, the department organised two international webinars - one jointly with the department of Pol. Sc. and another alone. Recently, there was a seminar conducted by the department as part of faculty exchange program with Serampore Girls College and organised a state level seminar along with IQAC on 30th January, 2024 at 1 p. m. on The Vedic Period.
Cultural Activities:
• In 2022, the department celebrated the NaboborshoUtsav (Bengali New Year's Day) on a grand scale where tribute was paid to the three music legends - Sandhya Mukhopadhyay, Bappi Lahiri and Lata Mangeshkar where students from all departments participated.
• In 2023, the department again organised the Naboborsho Utsav where departmental students staged a drama with the help of the Bengali department: Sanjib Chattopadhyay's "Guptodhaner Sandhane".
• Besides, every year even during the pandemic the department celebrates the Teacher's Day on 5th September.
The department strives to go ahead and believes in the Olympic Motto: Citius, Altius and Fortius meaning Swifter, Higher & Stronger.
